Trước cuộc khủng hoảng COVID-19, một số tiêu chuẩn châu Âu cho một số thiết bị y tế và thiết bị bảo vệ cá nhân hiện có thể được tải xuống miễn phí. Điều này bao gồm 11 tiêu chuẩn được phát triển bởi Ủy ban Tiêu chuẩn hóa Châu Âu (CEN) và 3 tiêu chuẩn bổ sung được phát triển cùng với ISO.
Cung cấp quyền truy cập miễn phí vào các tiêu chuẩn này trong đợt bùng phát coronavirus cho phép các công ty sản xuất mặt nạ lọc, găng tay y tế, áo choàng và các vật tư bảo vệ khác để tăng tốc quá trình sản xuất và nhanh chóng thâm nhập thị trường EU để giúp đỡ những người có nhu cầu.
